"For several years I’ve referred patients to Dr. Mitchell for a full spectrum of chronic health problems, including digestive and respiratory disorders and chronic pain. My patients have experienced remarkable results when they take advantage of Dr. Mitchell’s combined expertise in chiropractic, acupuncture and the use of herbal remedies. Many of these patients have not responded well to traditional drug therapy and others prefer to avoid pharmaceuticals.”
— Michael S., M.D.

“When I started seeing Dr. Mitchell on the advice of my family doctor, my diarrhea was so intense, immediate and unpredictable that I was becoming afraid to leave my house. Within two weeks of Ayurvedic and acupuncture therapy, my digestive problems were nearly eliminated, and the immediate relief I experienced has only stabilized through the past year…. The resolution of my skin issues has been just as remarkable. Within three months of taking the Ayurvedic herbs, my dermatitis cleared up, freeing me of intense itching, burning and raw oozing of my skin. But my best testimonial was yet to come. Shortly after I began treatment I suffered from diabetic retinopathy, the bursting of a retinal vessel in the eye causing blurring of the vision. The standard remedy is laser surgery. However, within three months of Ayurvedic therapy, my ophthalmologist determined that my sight had ‘spontaneously’ restored itself, and that laser surgery will not be necessary.”

Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the oldest known system of medicine, provides yet another view into the patient’s state of health and offers effective, powerful solutions to chronic problems. Literally translated as “the science of life,” Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, is more than 5,000 years old. Like acupuncture, Ayurveda is recognized by the World Health Organization for its effectiveness in treating chronic health problems.

Dr. Mitchell utilizes unique and insightful methods of Ayurvedic assessment, such as nadi vigyan (pulse diagnosis), and makes recommendations for diet, lifestyle and nutritional supplementation based on his findings.

Dr. Mitchell often recommends Ayurvedic herbal remedies that gently bring the body into balance without creating undesirable side effects.

These are some of the treatment modalities available:

Shirodhara
Shirodhara is one of the great purification and rejuvenation therapies of Ayurveda. A very simple and relaxing treatment, it is one of the best known therapies for calming the nervous system, and it gives the recipient a healthy glow.

Shirodhara in the Sanskrit language is composed of two words: “shiro” and “dhara.” “Shiro” means head and “dhara” means flow. The patient lies on his or her back on a flat surface with head back and a rolled towel or pillow beneath the neck for support. A continuous stream of warm oil is poured slowly over the center of the forehead for 20-25 minutes. Typically, the entire session lasts about 50 minutes, including a brief head massage and rest time following the treatment.

This purification therapy is not only meant for elimination of disease-causing toxins, but also replenishes the tissues with nourishment. Rejuvenate literally means “to make young again.” In Ayurveda, rejuvenating therapy is the golden way to attain longevity, as it is aimed at the preservation of health.

Therapeutic Benefits:
Very effective for reducing stress, nervous tension and anger
Calms the body and the mind, providing sound sleep
Helps to relieve chronic headaches and hypertension
Enhances blood circulation to the brain and improves vitality
Assists the body in recovering from jet lag
